Jazz Magazine, July 2002
Here is a prime example of a magazine executive not needing any prodding or convincing in order to feature Jaco on the cover of his magazine. As you will read in the attached letter below, Fred Goaty totally gets Jaco. He is one of the valuable music industry professionals who not only recognizes Jaco’s significance, but is also a true fan who appreciates the beauty of his music. Working with Fred to help make this Jaco issue as good as possible, I put together a promotional CD to be included
within the magazine. It features the track Tell Daddy from "Woodchuck,
"Wiggle Waggle
from "The Peter Graves Orchestra," and Balloon Song
from "Jaco’s Demo Reel."

Letter from Fred Goaty:

Dear Bob,

Paris, 1979 (I was 14 years old) : One of the first albums I borrowed at my library was "Jaco Pastorius." His music has changed my life - at that time, I didn't realize it, but now I know. Since, I never stop to LOVE Jaco's music.

To work with you on this project is a kind of dream come true (as a Jaco's fan and a journalist).

I'm so glad that Jazz Magazine can do this - plus, it's the first time we put him on the cover!

Regards,
and thank you for calling,
Fred Goaty
