Portrait of Jaco... the Early Years Guestbook
POJ gets my vote for a Grammy! Now we can know the back story, Jaco didn't just rise out of the everglades as some kind of BassMonster but was assembled over many years of study, practice, performance and a dedication that continues to inspire all bass players and musicians and artists everywhere.

Jaco's music will always be on the "A" rotation at the pad. Thank you for such a beautiful Web site.

Jaco has always been a huge influence on my playing. I love the quote that someone wrote, "There was bass before Jaco and there was bass after Jaco, thats just the way it is!

"POJ-The Early Years" is a masterpiece worth the wait. Bob you deserve every ounce of credit. This is history in my hands. Thanks so much!

i've been listening to Jaco on and off for the past 10 yrs. and i've really enjoyed it! i just recently bought a cd called the Jaco Pastorius Anthology. it has everything from music with Pat Metheny to Joni Mitchell. i'd love it when i can see "Portrait of Jaco" on the shelves of Silver Platters or any Seattle area cd stores. i'd love to hear what his early music is like. i love this website. keep up the good work.

Peace

For those who knew him it's an otherworldly feeling to hear him speak again in words and music. Music that few people have ever heard, set in a soundscape of retro Lauderdale where Jaco grew up. You get to experience the places he played, people he knew. It's an astounding piece of work. Hats off to Bob Bobbings for his masterwork. few will ever understand how very difficult it must have been for him to assemble this material, get those interviews, cut through all the emotional barriers and get everyone to see his vision was of a much higher order. It's truly a labor of love and an extraordinary view of the musical birth place of a fantastic musician and human being. I think Jaco would be pleased with the humanity of it. I know you'll be moved if you hear this CD.

THANKS for this record; the music, the stories - it's exactly what Jaco deserves.

I got one word: MASTERPIECE !

This is unquestionably the most incredible, most important release since my brother's death.

I want to thank you again, Bob, for sticking to your vision for this epic project.

Truly amazing.

Bob,
This is T-Don, trumpet with Wayne Cochran & C.C. riders, and I just want to say thanks man for a job well done. I'm talking about "Portrait of Jaco - The Early Years." The music, the interviews, the booklet, all the photos, the sequence of the music, the quality of the music and the overall quality of the production are all incredible. It couldn't have been done any better.
Jaco would have been proud of this as well as all those who knew him will. Jaco was the greatest and only you could have honored him this way. You have truly given honor where honor is due and now I honor you by saying thanks!

I can't wait to get hold of this release. I've just got back into playing my rosewood/sunburst jazz bass after going round the 6-string route for a while. It has made me realise what a huge impact Jaco had on me and my playing. I feel like I have come home!! Phil Mulford, London.
