MY VISION
was to create a record label, endorsed by the Pastorius
family, that would be looked to for new and inspiring
music featuring Jaco Pastorius. Beginning with a comprehensive
anthology of Jaco's early formative years the first
release would consist primarily of never-before-heard
live recordings, taken from my personal collection,
that feature Jaco's first home recordings, his earliest
bands, his first original compositions and his original
demo sessions from Criteria. Considering the scope
and rarity of such a release, I felt that Holiday
Park Records would quickly become known world wide
for its exclusive releases featuring Jaco. And by
all of the media and editorial reviews surrounding
it's first release, Holiday Park would gain the positive
press and respect necessary to be considered a future
source of quality Jaco Pastorius music. Holiday Park's
first release, the 'audio biography' titled "Portrait
of Jaco," would then be followed by a series
of CD releases featuring Jaco during each stage of
his early formative years in Florida. Single releases
of Jaco with Woodchuck, Tommy Strand
& The Upper Hand, Wayne Cochran &
C.C. Riders, The Peter Graves Orchestra and a
CD of his original demo sessions at Criteria all possess
creative excellence, and would be very respectable
additions to Jaco's discography.
The
name "Holiday Park" was chosen
because of Jaco's association to it throughout
his life. From his very first days in Florida playing
there with his brothers to the various athletic activities
many of us enjoyed playing there with Jaco throughout
his early years, Holiday Park justly represents a
time when he was healthy, happy, making music, and
enjoying life. It's understandable why Jaco was drawn
back to Holiday Park towards the end of his life -
actually living there during the summer of '87. It
was his last known address, a very familiar and seemingly
safe place, filled with great memories
Holiday
Park... the label to look to for quality Jaco Pastorius
releases.
